Say NO to LGBTQ Discrimination

To appease their far-right base, Republicans in the Appropriations Committee passed an amendment that would allow taxpayer-funded child welfare organizations to discriminate against qualified potential parents based on “religious objection.”

We MUST oppose this amendment. This isn’t only about harming LGBTQ families, but also single parents, inter-faith couples, even families in which one parent has been previously divorced could all be affected. This shrinks the number of loving homes available to vulnerable children in need.

Furthermore, this amendment would slash funding to states that refuse to work with those organizations that discriminate against qualified LGBTQ families and it would compel the federal government to work with those agencies.

Your federal tax dollars should not be used to discriminate against any American. And no qualified family should be turned away from adopting or fostering a child in this country.
